Dorset Club Meeting May 2015

The attendance was good unfortunately I forgot my camera Ahhh! Still resolved. Mike reported ‘ Another successful show organised by the Dorset Antique Bottle Club in the New Forest at Minstead Village Hall. We had a surplus which helps subsidize our meeting hall rent, hold a regular fish and chip night (normally in Oct) and Christmas bash.  Stall numbers were the same as the previous year and there was a good number through the door particularly early on in the day, with early entry up on the previous year. Sales by stall holders were also reported to be good.  With a number of club members only having stalls at this show, there is always be fresh to the market stock on offer.

Another feature of the show is the displays that  are always set up giving people a chance to see  a selection of items from peoples collections including many rarities.’

The date for your diary next year will be Sunday 8th of May. The astute amongst you will notice that Perth is on the previous Day.

Sadly With Perth being on the First Sat in May and  Ours being the second. This will mean every seven years the shows will fall on the same weekend. Some attend both so this is a real shame as the distances involved make it impossible to attend both. For us  it’s difficult for both to chop and change dates as we are happy with the venue and the hall is busy most weekends we don’t wish to loose it. We hope all understand.

Minstead Club Show 2015

Hi All. Firstly a big thank to all who made the event a success. The Stallholders who continue to support us many traveling a good distance to be with us. Those who contribute to the displays which were excellent.  The helpers who set, packed up the tables, made the hall spick and span looked after the door. The cake makers/donators and kitchen helpers. Also the attendees who came to look buy and natter. All made the day special and a worthwhile repeatable experience.

Show Catch up Winternational Berkhamstead Alton Cirencester 2015

Over the last few months It’s been pretty busy show wise with quite a few coming and going. The dreaded Lurgi has come and gone and come back again several times so I thought I’d put a quick summary of the ones I’d been to and what Dorset Items had been discovered.

We had Berhamstead Winternational in Febuary. It was well attended and quite a lot of items found new homes from the sales tables.   Good show with bottles and advertising. The lighting is a bit yellowish.

Shot of Alan Show organiser thanks for another good one. ‘Free sample’ mini Gosnells winging its way back home pictured with the other two variations I have, G.H.Crickmay Weymouth saltglazed barrel also homeward bound.

Alton Show in March was as busy as ever the Flyers went out for the Dorset Club Show in May.No purchases for me but a Weymouth Soda amber Skittle found its way back to Dorset.

Behind my pitch late in the day.

Cirencester Show was the busiest I’d seen for a few years. The rain didn’t dampen spirits and thanks to the Waits who let us in a bit earlier to put our stuff under the tables. They put on a super display as usual and my eye was caught by the wonderful colored topped jugs and the Torquay ware strikers we have a few of our own used by Dorset companies. I think The BBR on the road auction also helped add to the show . Cant wait till next years.

We had our AGM and the committee was re elected en block.

Sadly I forgot my Camera for Aprils meeting you so no pics Scottish bottles, creams poisons and the usual categories. We talked about the up and coming Club Show in May.

The proposed BBR on the road auction is unlikely to happen due to Alan having a prior commitment. So maybe again next year 2016.
