Minstead Bottle Show 2014

The Dorset club show held at Minstead Village hall is truly a Club Show and the team behind it want to show that the hobby is alive and kicking in the region. We hope to appeal to the already hooked and introduce the hobby to those who have just found it.

The attendance and stall bookings were up on last year

Thanks for everyone’s support, Stallholders helpers and attendees,. Despite the dreadful weather forecast the Gods smiled on us and we were graced with fine weather. This definitely makes a difference.

I think the pictures show some fresh to market material which enforces that the regional show has a lot to offer. And of course a few treasured items not to be risked by the postal services hand delivered.

There were some fab displays. Showing what started it all for most of us the connection to the local past there were of course some real gems for the astute collector to see.

The added BBR auction also provided an attraction.

A quick run down on the displays

Mike Squires Club Sec put on a display of South Western Mineral Water Company items. The Ginger beers displayed chart the growth of the company as it spread across our region. Many of the bottles having town names on from Swanage, Wimbourne, Salisbury Southampton and Bournemouth.

Mickey Winwood showed off some choice Southampton Gb’s , foreign visitors from across the sea’s (Blue tops) and some excellent teakettle inks. Many asking how did he get the milti coloured one to work. All had come for a grand day out for a cup of tea and a slice of cake one of the things the Dorset show is famous for!
