The club meeting in November was boosted by an excellent Display of Wiltshire items Mike has acquired over a number of years. I particularity liked the Purton Sulphated & Bromo Iodated Saline water, American Antiseptic toothpaste from Bush of Melksham, Early rolled lip Squary & Sons Salisbury Hamilton and of course the gallon salt-glazed flagons.
The competitions entries were a bit thin on the ground but the quality as always was excellent. Blanchflowers farmyard scene K
ranol hair food, Wrights cold cream Ilfracombe harbour scene. All are classic pot lids.
The non pontiled early Hodgsons Soda Water stood out in the Hamilton class as a clear winner in its class.
A few Lymington pub named flagons a single entry in the flagon class.
The real winner in the best bought was the C 1790 I Dominy Ale flagon? Found at a Dorset car boot (I obviously don’t go to the right ones). This is a possible Fullham made piece and could have possible Dorset connections but requires further research.
Don’t be shy Mike one of the best discoveries in 2015.
